About Central Demolition

OUR CULTURE
WHAT DRIVES US
Managing Director Ian and his son Michael, backed by a strong leadership team, are not just leading Central Demolition—they're reshaping the demolition industry in New Zealand. Ian's relentless drive and "get it done" attitude have been at the heart of their success. As Michael puts it, "Ian will go to the ends of the earth for his clients. He holds himself fully accountable and doesn’t stop until the job is done."
Ian’s forward-thinking approach has helped the company become a pioneer in asbestos removal and demolition waste recycling. The culture at Central Demolition is built on more than just hard work though. It’s about community, support, and looking after the people who make it all happen.

OUR ENVIRONMENT FOCUS
HOW WE PRIORITISE RECYCLING
From recycling concrete, timber, steel, glass, and plasterboard from demolition and construction sites across the lower North Island, reducing the environmental impact of our industry is our priority. That’s why all materials from our sites are sent to our sister company Central Environmental, whose goal is to divert all construction and demolition waste away from landfill.
Giving materials a second life is exactly why Central Environmental was founded in the first place. For example, we laid the foundations of our new Central Demolition HQ using our own Central Environmental recycled crushed concrete. Like us, Central Environmental is committed to setting industry standards for others to follow. In early 2025, for the Manawatū region, Central Environmental launched Skippa, a service that collects construction and demolition, DIY, and green waste. The waste is then taken to Central Environmental’s materials recycling facility.

OUR STRICT SAFETY STANDARDS
INDUSTRY LEADERS IN HEALTH & SAFETY
Industry-leading Health and Safety standards are non-negotiable for our team. They are reflected in our meticulous commitment to training, not so we get it right but so that we never get it wrong. Our team follows strict safety procedures and has undertaken a significant amount of internal and external training including SiteSafe, Class A and B Asbestos Removal Training, First Aid, and Working at Heights and Elevated Work Platform Training. Plus, our unwavering commitment to prioritising the mental well-being of our incredible staff has been recognised at the New Zealand Demolition & Asbestos Association Awards, with Central Demolition winning the Health and Safety Best Practice category.
